Cat Guard Terms of Use

Last updated:

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Cat Guard macOS application ("App"), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

These Terms describe your relationship with the App's developer ("we", "us") regarding use of the software.

2. Description of the Service

Cat Guard is a menu-bar productivity helper that schedules alternating work intervals and timed breaks and, during breaks, may present a translucent full-screen overlay on all attached displays—including video playback of bundled assets—to encourage you to rest.

3. Productivity and Safety Disclaimer

IMPORTANT: Cat Guard is not professional time-management counseling, ergonomics guidance, occupational safety tooling, or medical advice. The overlay deliberately limits interaction with underlying applications while active. If you must monitor safety-critical workflows, unattended systems, minors, regulated communications, trades, deliveries, emergencies, or any task where interruptions could harm people, property, or compliance, evaluate whether this App suits your environment—or disable breaks / avoid full-screen overlays.

You accept responsibility for configuring durations, enabling or disabling emergency exit, and supervising anything that continues while you are afk.

4. Purchases

If you obtain Cat Guard through the Mac App Store (or another Apple-supported channel), price, taxation, refunds, receipts, and family sharing are governed by Apple's terms and your Apple ID—not by these Terms alone.

5. License

Subject to these Terms, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to:

6. Restrictions

You may not:

7. Data

Preferences are saved locally via macOS mechanisms described in our Privacy Policy. Uninstall may erase them.

8. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

9. Safety

Safety: In any personal emergency affecting life or severe injury, disregard productivity tooling and summon local emergency services immediately. Overlay timers rely on ordinary macOS scheduling; suspend or force-quit responsibly if malfunctioning.

10. Privacy

The Privacy Policy is incorporated by reference.

11. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that:

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or business interruption arising out of overlays, timers, or interaction blocking.

13. Updates and Modifications

Features and Terms may change; substantive updates will bump the revision date atop this document.

14. Termination

You may uninstall whenever you wish. We may discontinue distribution consistent with storefront rules.

15. App Store Terms

For copies obtained through Apple, Apple's standard end-user license applies where mandated; if there is irreconcilable conflict on distribution topics, Apple's terms prevail for that procurement channel.

16. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by applicable law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full force and effect.
