On-device first: Cat Guard stores your timer preferences on your Mac. We do not operate sign-in accounts for this app, and we do not embed third-party ad or analytics SDKs.
1. Introduction
This policy explains how the Cat Guard macOS application ("the App") handles information. The developer ("we") does not intend to collect personal datasets beyond what macOS exposes for diagnostics as described below.
2. Information the App Processes
All functional data is voluntary configuration you interact with inside the App, for example:
- Timer settings: Work interval length, break length, timer state inferred from runtime behavior.
- Appearance / media preference: Which bundled
.movfilename you selected for the overlay player. - Safety toggle: Whether emergency overlay exit (⌥ Option + K) is allowed — stored as a preference.
We do not process health records, Contacts, calendars, microphone, camera, or location for core functionality.
Not used:
- ❌ Third-party ad networks
- ❌ Behavioral analytics or trackers
- ❌ Dedicated cloud databases controlled by us for App data
3. How We Use Information
On-device preferences are used only to run the Pomodoro-style loop and render the overlay. Nothing is transmitted to developer-operated servers as part of normal App behavior.
4. Apple Frameworks and Distribution
The App is distributed via the Mac App Store (or alternate Apple-approved channels you obtain it from). Apple processes purchase receipts and crash/diagnostic uploads according to your macOS privacy settings—we do not receive your name or email from Apple automatically.
Apple's Privacy Nutrition Label and Required Reason APIs (where applicable) for the shipped build supersede conflicting informal summaries.
5. Storage and Security
Preferences are persisted with macOS User Defaults (similar storage is declared in the App Privacy manifest where required). Clearing app data removes these keys.
6. Third-Party Services
- Apple: App distribution, Gatekeeper-signed updates, and optional anonymized diagnostics you allow at the OS level.
No standalone third-party trackers are integrated.
7. Children's Privacy
The App is general audience productivity software—not directed at children under 13. If you believe a minor provided personal info through support email, contact us to delete correspondence.
8. Data Retention
Local preferences persist until deleted or overwritten. Uninstalling the App typically removes sandboxed containers; external support emails are kept only as needed to reply.
9. Your Choices
- Adjust or erase preferences inside the App
- Remove Cat Guard to clear local persisted settings
- Email us for GDPR/CCPA-related requests where applicable law grants them
10. International Users
Applicable privacy laws vary. Contact us if you wish to exercise region-specific privacy rights regarding support correspondence.
